Ways to cozy up your home for the Holidays: Simmer Pots
What is a Simmer Pot?
During the holiday seasons, there is nothing better than coming home to a wonderful scent. While those scents can be found in many popular store-bought candles and room fresheners, simmer pots provide a much more customizable experience. A simmer pot is made with essential fruits, herbs, and spices to make your home smell amazing for all of your holiday parties this season!
Tips
Let your simmer pot boil for a minimum of 2-3 hours on a low boil. Add water when necessary so citrus pieces or herbs won’t burn.
Save orange, limes, lemons, and apple peels in a Ziploc and freeze until you start your new simmer pot.
Substitute any citrus fruits, create your own mix to have different smells
Use a variety of herbs, such as fresh rosemary sprigs, mint, lavender, sage or rose petals.
Also include pine twigs and needles, pinecones, and tree barks for a woodsy scent
Start with small amounts of herbs and citrus pieces, once they start to boil they can become stronger, to dilute the smell, just add more water.
