Tips for a safe and fun 4th of July

Ready for the 4th of July’s barbecue?

If you still haven’t planned any red, white, and blue desserts or patriotic meals for this 4th of July, then here are a few ideas to get you started. A few easy recipes can go a long way. Hamburgers and hotdogs are traditions, but what about adding a twist to them? Hawaiian Hotdogs take on a more tropical approach without having to leave the comfort of your home. These Hawaiian hotdogs are topped with spicy mayo, cilantro, and pineapple salsa, with a sweet Hawaiian bun!

Flipping patties can be tiring; well, what about Pull-Apart Cheeseburgers sliders? Get the oven ready because these sliders are going in for a hot 10 mins.

Desserts for the kids? We got you! S’mores without a camping fire may not be fun, but what about trying July 4th S’mores Dip? Place a layer of Hershey’s chocolate on the bottom of a pan, roll some marshmallows in red, white, and blue sanding sugar, bake for 8-10 mins, and dip with graham crackers or fruit.

Now that the party is over…

Cleaning up after a gathering isn’t quite the most fun but there are a few ways to stay on top it while also enjoying time with family and friends. Before the party designate someone to be in charge of checking that trash bags/bins do not overfill. These designated members will gladly enjoy having the help of Amscan Flings Pop-Up Trash Bin. The Bin has been designed for small gatherings, made of sturdy plastic, reusable and when the party is over collapsible for storage. Before the party also make sure that the dishwasher is empty. This can be an easy way of getting dirty dishes in right away rather than later. If you don’t have a dishwasher designate an area in the kitchen or sink to gather all dirty dishes. During a gathering a wine-spill, or soda spill may be common. Make sure to have a few microfiber clothes for quick spill clean up. Keep cleaning supplies at hand to ensure easier cleaning during and after the party.

Safety Tips

4th of July can be a day of celebration but for some families also a day of increased danger. Police and firefighters advice to take the correct cautionary steps when lighting fireworks whether that be handheld fireworks, low-noise fireworks, or loud rocket fireworks. Firefighters advice that you clear a 30ft radius around fireworks, run the hose line to the place of ignition of fireworks, use long-handled lighters, and keep a metal bucket nearby to dispose of fireworks after they have been soaked in water. Plastic buckets may also have a chance of catching on fire. Adults should be the ones lighting fireworks, once they become lit up back up immediately to avoid injury. Children should always be supervised even with handheld sparklers, they should not have access to lighters. If you have pets please also understand that their ears are delicate to loud sounds. Make sure to keep pets away from loud noise or commotion of fireworks. Pets can run away from home and become lost.
