Welcome to Woodlake!

History

Gilbert F. Stevenson founded Woodlake in 1912. His vision was to establish citrus orchards around a model-planned community. He claimed that it was “the fastest growing town in central California.” Safe to say that decades later, his community is still growing as many more communities are being built around the area. The city’s Redevelopment Agency has begun renovating many of downtown’s buildings, for example, adding a new senior citizen’s apartment building. If you decide to live in Woodlake, you’ll be surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Sequoia National Park, and your very own Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden is open to the public with free admission. With about 13 acres of fruit trees, vegetable gardens, rose gardens, and many birds and butterflies, you will not want to miss capturing a photograph of this beautiful land.

Traditions

Are you ready to party? Woodlake holds annual events and traditions that will for sure have you off your feet dancing, singing, and having a great time. Presented by the Woodlake Lions, you can expect a Woodlake Lions Rodeo and Mother’s Day parade during the month of May. Interested in music? Every year on the third of July, Woodlake offers a 3rd of July Blast with food, games, and music. The Home Grown Project offers a Mariachi fest, so don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes! In addition, The Home Grown Project also presents Santa’s Workshop & Christmas Parade every second week in December.

Bravo Lake Trail

If you’re in town, make sure you check out Bravo Lake Trail, an easy 3.3-mile loop trail, where you’ll be able to see people riding bikes, fishing, and enjoying a nice stroll around the man-made lake. Want to bring your pet? Bravo Lake Trail also offers a pet-friendly trail, and in some areas, your dog is welcome to be unleashed. Wheelchair and stroller accessibility are also available; the path is estimated to be 10ft. wide.
